油彩、画板 - 有签名
From the family collection. Directly bought from Filarski himself. He was a friend of the family (from my grandparents on my father’s side). The evidence that I have found for this is that my father did not buy the painting himself. He had multiple paintings by Filarski, which all came into the family via the parents of my father. He was very proud of this. My father lived at Westeinde in his youth, together with his parents. I have heard many stories about this period. Sad because of the war and happy because of the vibrant city. Filarski lived there too. As did David Bekking. My father also had various paintings by him that his parents had bought directly from Bekking. Bekking has also made a child’s portrait of my father. This is also added to support this story. This is not included in the sale, because we’d like to keep it in the value because of emotional value.
The back of the painting by Filarski has been restored. We have had the painting valued and examined by 2 different experts for an independent opinion. It showed that this painting was painted on top of another painting. This is also evident from the relief of the current painting, which for this reason is not completely right and which makes it unique. That’s why I have taken some photos to show the relief. Apparently both Filarski and Bekking reused their canvases. Because at the back of the child’s portrait by Bekking, there’s also another painting. I have understood that Bekking and Filarski also knew each other. My grandparents wanted to help them and therefore bought works by both of them regularly.
