I'm selling the very well-known Arteluce table lamp, model 600P, designed by Gino Sarfatti, year 1960. This famous table lamp has appeared in the majority of international design catalogues. This lamp is also on display at the New York MOMA, the most renowned design museum. The light can be aimed in any direction thanks to the black, artificial leather 'bean bag' filled with lead pellets. Shade in black lacquered aluminium. Electrical system in 100% working order, with original 1960s wiring and plug. Maintained in very good aesthetic condition, no specific defects to report, just a few minor marks left by the passing of time. The 'bean bag' base is perfect. Still has original rubber grommet for the power cord. Sensational item, suited for collectors or to complement 1950s-style interior furnishings. Height: about 21 cm. Information about the designer: Born in Venice in 1912, Gino Sarfatti studied naval-aviation Engineering at the University of Genoa. In 1939 he founded Arteluce, a modern lighting solutions company that would soon reach worldwide fame and become a meeting point for many leading designers of the time. Sarfatti designed over 400 lamps during his career, devoting himself to technical research, materials and manufacturing, as well as product testing. Around the mid-50s, he began working with Plexiglas, and by the early 1970s, he became a pioneer of integrating halogen light bulbs into lighting systems. Sarfatti and Arteluce won several prizes, including the 'Compasso d'Oro' (an Italian industrial design award) in 1954 and 1955. Flos acquired Arteluce in 1973, prior to Sarfatti's death in Gravedona in 1985.
