A DUTCH BRONZE MORTAR BY HENRYCK TER HORST, 1638
Hendrik ter Horst, started his mortar foundry in 1621 in Deventer. He is born in 1600 in Geesteren near Borculo and married in Deventer Margareta Cuenen in 1622. He died in 1680.
Cast with a band of foliage and a band of foliage with putti and vases, inscribed in raised lettering 'HENRYCK . TER . HORST . ME . FECIT . AO . 1638 .
The weight of the mortar is 7,8 lb. The height is 12 cm. Diagonal 15 cm.
