This set of three pieces with floral motifs was manufactured between 1900 and 1913 by Silva Guimaraes & Co in the city of Guimaraes (39km from Oporto city).
The cables are silver and the body is made of the best Portuguese stainless steel.
At the beginning of the nineteenth century the city of Guimaraes represented the highest exponent of the Portuguese national cutlery, sometimes referred to in literally works of this speciality.
This kind of set was often offered to those coming of age on their eighteenth birthday.
These spoon, fork and knife were made in workshops where two to ten workers worked. The instruments they used were the anvil, the forge of the old system, the hammer, the iron press, the file, the grinding hand and the manual polishing wheel.
All objects had the manufacturer's mark and these in particular the contrast stamp of Oporto city: the wild boar II.
The spoon weighs 57, the fork 52 and the knife 74 grams.
The length of the spoon and the fork is 20cm each. The knife is 25cm.
